Bunions: Surgery Isn't the Only Solution!

A bunion (hallux valgus) forms at the base of the big toe causing a bony bump on the side of the foot. In mild cases, the misalignment may not be very visible but as it worsens, the big toe can push against the others leading to crowding, irritation and discomfort.

What many don't realise: the size of the bunion is not directly proportional to the pain. Pain is influenced by many factors such as your gait (walking pattern), nerves, joint inflammation and how your footwear fits.

Most people think surgery is the only solution - even after surgery, the bunion can redevelop if the underlying cause is not addressed.

This is where osteopathy can help: improving joint mobility, relieving pressure, supporting proper alignment and preventing reoccurrence.
