Hip Pain - Psoas

Psoas is a muscle that is primarily used to flex the hip. It also contributes to lateral flexion of the lumbar spine and flexion of the trunk.

When it is tight, it can cause hip pain and may refer to the lumbar spine. It is very common for trigger points to develop in the psoas muscle and in some cases, nerve compression.

Everyday activities such as walking and sitting up can enhance the pain if not properly taken care of. A combination of stretching (for relaxation and lengthening), and active release techniques (for trigger points) will relieve the pain.
